“And the fear has left me now
I’m not frightened anymore”

Sarah McLachlan – Fumbling Toward Ecstasy
Samantha's parents died when she was nine. Her uncle Alec Brown raised her and her brother Rafe until they were old enough to take care of themselves. Rafe went away to college in New York, but Sam was too young to go with him. She has always been drawn to magical things and joined the Black Rose Coven when she was sixteen, much to her uncle's dismay. It was the only thing she ever defied him on.

Sam was always a shy, awkward girl. She dated the loser Simon mostly because she didn't think any other guy would want to date her. When she was old enough, she moved into the house her parents had left her and got a job at Borders. She also started attending Boston College where she met Corrine. They volunteer together at Mother Abigail's, a local home for troubled teen girls.

One night the Sabbat attacked Mother Abigail's while Sam and Corrine were working. They tried to embrace Sam and buried her beneath the garage floor. Sam's Avatar awakened and during the experience and he was able to show her how to survive without becoming a vampire herself.

After her Awakening, Sam's life changed. She met a new guy and dumped the old one, and became closer to Corrine, who had also Awakened that night. Simon didn't want to let her go, but he was persuaded to when Rafe killed him. Sam also discovered that she is the Seer of this generation.

AJ moved to Salem where he and Sam had a Christmas wedding. Their son Brendan was more than a handful, but Sam loved every minute she had with her child.

When the Trimuritive came to her to learn what he needed to do to pass the magic of the Verbena on, Sam was heartbroken to learn that her son was the answer. It took all she and AJ had to hand over their son willing, but they knew it must be done. Now they look forward to the birth of their daughter, a light of hope who will help balance her brothers actions.
