Salem After Dark

Salem Main | Tremere
Ambika Eostar Tremere Chantry
Salem's original Tremere chantry was founded by Beth Bathori in 1692, the year of the Salem Witch Trials. She had begun construction on a new chantry when she was killed. Elvira finished the new chantry, finding it a fitting location to rule the city in, and a safe haven for Salem's Tremere. The building's defenses include numerous ghouls, and a large number of magickal enchantments and wards.

The Main Floor

The Sitting Room

Elvira's sitting room is close to the entrance of the chantry. It is an informal room for her to deal with the cities problems, and her favorite in the house. She often greets visitors from a high backed chair near the fireplace.

The Conclave Room

Salem's Primogen Council meets in the Conclave Room of the chantry. A large table dominates the room with seating enough for all Primogen, and those brought before them. Elvira heads the table in a large chair that sits in front of the fireplace. Cabinets line the walls filled with maps and other information about the city. In times of trouble, this room is used as the war room.

The Library

Rising two stories tall is the chantry library. Filled with volumes both modern and ancient, it is the largest collection of magickal information in Salem. On the first floor tucked under the balcony is an area dedicated to computers. While most of the Tremere in the chantry prefer to do their research in the printed word, several of their ghouls are more than proficient in the use of this electronic media.

Elvira's Office

Nestled behind the library at the back of the house is Elvira's private sanctum. In this large room she keeps many of the chantry's most valuable volumes and artifacts. Book shelves dominate the room, which also holds her desk, several tables and chairs for visitors, and a fireplace.

The Closet

Secreted between Elvira's Office and the Conclave Room is the Closet, where the chantry's computer, phone system, and most secret artifacts are kept. On the main floor, the room is entered only through a secret door to Elvira's office. It also holds a stairway that leads upward to hidden doors in both Elvira's private quarters, and her most trusted ghouls' living area.

The Ball Room

One of the largest rooms in the Salem Chantry is the Ball Room. Located in the back of the house, it has a stage area for a band or orchestra, a bar that is fully stocked with the most expensive wines and liquors, and doors that lead out to the patio behind the house.

The Parlor

The second of the largest rooms in the house, the Parlor holds many seating areas and is perfect for gathering the entire Kindred population of the city. Several large doors stand between this room and the Ball Room, allowing music to spill between the rooms during festive occasions.

The Second Floor

The Media Room

Midway up the stairway from the main floor is the Media Room. Several long couches face a small movie screen that covers one entire wall. On the floor in front of the screen is a mass of pillows for those who wish to be a bit more relaxed while watching the screen or listening to music. The back wall holds the state of the art music and video equipment, while the other walls are filled with shelves which hold a large collection of music CDs and DVDs.

The North Wing

To the right of the stairway lies a hallway lined with rooms. While not all Tremere live in the chantry, each Kindred has a private room should they choose to stay upon occasion. There are also a number of spare rooms on this floor for valued guests.

The South Wing

Elvira, Ford and Zora have rooms to the left of the stairway, as do the Ghouley's, the ghouled couple who are in charge of the day to day running of the household. At the end of the hall lies the second floor of the library, which is reserved for the more valuable books in the chantry's public library.

Ford's Apartment

Ford resides at the chantry, and his room is the largest bedroom in the building. He has several cabinets in the room that holds the majority the chantry's most valuable books and magickal items, including the chantry's Vessel of Transubstantiation.

Elvira's Apartment

Though smaller than Ford's apartment, Elvira's private rooms are still quite spacious, and reflect much of her personality that normally remains hidden. Only those she trust implicitly are ever invited into the room.

Zora's Room

As Keeper of the Scrolls, it is Zora's job to oversee the library. She prefers to stay close to the room that holds the volumes she has become quite passionate about.

Ford's Office

Ford keeps a small office just off the library balcony. While much of the chantry decisions and disciplines are run out of the conference room or Elvira's Office, this room is where Ford deals with the most important dealings of the Tremere in Salem.

The Third Floor

Many of the oldest Tremere ghouls reside in the chantry on this floor. There are spacious bedrooms, a common living area, kitchen and dining room, and even gym and arcade. Though most of the city's Tremere prefer the second floor of the chantry, Alden, the Primogen, keeps an apartment in the North Wing of this floor.

The Basement

Holding Cells and Interrogation Room

While Elvira does not lead with the heavy hand Beth once held around the city, there are still occasions where it is necessary to keep someone, or something, in a secure location. there are eighteen holding cells in the basement of the chantry, each one strong enough to hold the strongest shapeshifter, with wards complex enough to hold even a master mage.

Laboratories

Each Kindred member of the House and Clan Tremere has a private area in the basement specifically for spellwork. There are several larger laboratories that are for common use by either Kindred or ghouls.

The Garden

Hidden in the depths of the basement is the Garden, a large room filled with growing and living things. The large pool of water and areas of grass are designed to remind the visitor of what it is like to walk outside in the daylight, though no daylight ever falls within this room.

The Shooting Range

Because of the complex laws and zoning ordinances that come with living within the city limits, and the desire to keep the skills of their people secret, there is a full shooting range in the basement of the Chantry, complete with an armory that would make a Marine jealous.
