Taryn Menendez was living what she thought was a perfect and normal life in New York City. She practiced Wicca with a bent toward Mexican Witchcraft, and had many friends including an ex-boyfriend who was still an occasional lover. As a reporter for a music magazine, she traveled a lot and had money to spare.

Taryn and Alexis Jordan had met in college, and due their common interest in Wicca, became best friends. Even so, Taryn couldn’t talk to her about the dreams she began having, dreams of a tall dark man who swept her off her feet every night. The dreams were so real that when she woke up in the morning she felt as if she hadn’t slept the entire night. Other dreams she had led her to believe that her dream lover was real, and gave her the name of the city he lived in.

Alexis agreed to travel to Kalsaris with her, and during their time in the city they found out that Alec McGregor was a real person, and the man she’d been dreaming about. He seemed surprised that she’d found him, but not unhappy. It seemed that the relationship they’d had in Taryn’s dreams was going to be reality.

Near the end of their visit to Kalsaris at a party they were covering for the magazine, Taryn and Alexis were attacked by a woman named Chloe. It was only the fact that they Awakened, and the intervention of Alec and his brother Michael that the girls were not killed. Afterward they learned that Alec and Michael had been told to look after the girls, to protect them, because some day they would have to stop Chloe from her evil deeds.

The girls moved to Kalsaris, into Alec’s house, so he and Michael could train them for the coming battle. Through a seeking, Taryn connected with her Avatar, and her Ancestors and was able to use them to help fight off Chloe. It has been difficult since Chloe continues to interfere, and has placed the lives of many of Taryn’s old friends in danger. Despite Chloe’s attempts to separate them, Taryn and Alec became lovers, and eventually man and wife. They now have a son named Xander, and are looking forward to having more children.
